Learning Summary:

2020 brought with it many new challenges - and in November, it brought the need for the Scott County Health Department to identify and implement processes related to COVID-19 vaccination management for the County's 176,000 residents.  Working together in a cross-functional team comprised of Health, EMA, Administration, and IT team resources, the County was able to procure, test, and implement a software that allows for online scheduling, documentation, and import vaccination information to the state immunization registry for COVID-19.  As with many agencies tasked with similar projects, this one did have a variety of ups and downs; but ultimately what started out as a need has enabled teams to focus less on the documentation of these processes, and more on the care and user experience of the residents and patients receiving their vaccination.

Biography:

Stephanie Macuga is a Senior Programmer / Analyst within the Information Technology department at Scott County, Iowa.  Her focus is on business process analysis, implementation, and support of the County's enterprise applications including their Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Enterprise Content Management (ECM), and Time and Attendance software.  She holds a Master of Science in Information Technology (Southern New Hampshire University, 2020) and a Master of Public Administration (Drake University, 2015), as well as her PMP (2018).  In addition to being a member of the County's IT team, Stephanie is also an adjunct instructor with Scott Community College, working with IT students in courses related to leadership, professionalism, and internship.
